It’s universal that with time life also changes , sometimes bringing positive change while on the other hand a negative change but the amount of such change (positive or negative) it could bring in someone’s life is something unique for each human.
One day, Abraham got sick, and doctors strictly advised him to take bed rest and to visit the hospital after every week for the checkup. Zain told his father that he could leave his studies and work in his behalf at the restaurant, and he should take rest, but Abraham wanted Zain to complete his studies as it was vital for him to get a suitable job and care for his family. Not listening to what the other members of the family had to say, Abraham made the final decision that he would manage to work three days a week, and for the rest of days, Zain would work on his behalf.
The above routine was going fine for a couple of months, but Abraham’s condition was going from bad to worse, on the other hand, he was not going against his decision of working at least three days a week so that Zain could continue his study. T then one-day telephone call came from the hospital, Zahra picked up the phone.
She got the news that Abraham collapsed at his job and he was rushed to the hospital and currently in ICU.
Zahra left the receiver of the phone and shouted “Ebtehal, Zain Come now hurry! We’re going to the hospital”.
Along the way she was crying and praying at the same time, Zain and Ebtehal kept asking what happened mom and where is father but she didn’t reply as not to make them worry.
She only kept saying the following sentences to her children:
God Willing, everything will be alright
The hospital was at least one hour drive away from their home on a bus, but as soon as they arrived at the hospital. It was too late, and Abraham had already passed away leaving his wife and two children to despair.
The effect of this news on Zahra was that she couldn’t speak or move and stood still like she’s dead. Alive and dead at the same time.
Every responsibility was now on her shoulder, thought of taking care of children along with rent, money, food and how the life will be stable again affected her in the worst way that made her whole left side paralyzed and she was confined to bed.
So now the environment of the house was changed from positive to negative, with Abraham happiness of the home also left the world especially the laughing and cheerfulness of Ebtehal.
Zain was now the man of the house and sole bread earner. Abraham always used to tell Zain that one day he has to take control, so he has to be strong in times of difficulty and stay patient in times of calamity and to take care of his mother and little sister.
Moreover, Abraham was a wise man, and he always used to teach his family essential lessons in life. Following are some of the lessons he used to explain to his children and which Zahra used to revise at the dinner table daily after the death of Abraham.
Life is too short to be sad, so always laugh and look at the positive things if you want to stay happy.
Your life is someones else’s dream, and there is always someone who is below you. So be thankful for what you have and not spend your time and energy in (over) thinking about those things which you don’t have.
Listen, my children, The One who created you knows about you more than you know about yourself and whatever He Wills there is always good in it. So never lose hope.
With difficulty, comes ease. So always stay patient, my sweet children
At night, Ebtehal used to sleep with her mother while both Zahra and Zain used to sing her favorite song for her but now each time they sing her that song she cries but ends up going to sleep with tears rolling down her cheeks.
