Next day, Zain woke up on Ebtehal’s bed and the first thing he saw was his sister standing near the bed looking at him and smiling.
He immediately got up from the bed and hugged his sister.
Zain couldn’t recall what made him unconscious last night, he only remembered bits and pieces of information.
Zain felt hunger, so he got up looking for his backpack. He recalled that last night he threw his bag near the door of the house.
He went to the door, and his bag was there. He brought it in and prepared the table and food to eat and called Ebtehal to eat.
During eating Zain tried to think what happened last night but he couldn’t. His started getting a headache but then he recalled the image of a big rock near he fell down in the forest. And then this image was stuck in his mind.
There was a wide and strange smile on Ebtehal’s face while she went to close the door as Zain was leaving the house.
There was still some time left for sunset but Zain was sure that this time he would return home either just before sunset or few minutes after it as he would take leave for the day from work.
While he was passing through the forest, Zain kept thinking of what happened last night, but all he could remember now was the image of the big rock near which he fell down
His heart was telling him to go near the big rock, and maybe he could remember all the other details as well, but his mind was telling him to go to town and come home early.
Zain felt unrest, and he finally listened to his heart and went towards the big rock as it was in the way, and when he approached the rock, he started thinking of what happened, and his mind started hurting, but he tried again and again.
Apart from thinking, he was also searching around the rock for anything that could help him remember something.
He found his flashlight from last night which got out of his hand when he fell near the rock.
But near the flashlight there was something shining in the dirt, he picked it up and cleaned it.
It was the bracelet of Ebtehal which she used to wear always, but now he was so much confused that why is her bracelet laying over here in the middle of the forest.
So he started searching for something more around the rock and forgot that the sun was going to set soon and he still had to go to the town.
But curiosity and confusion led him to continue his investigation.
There was a tall tree behind the rock and to the right of Zain.
When the sun started to set, it lined up in a way that sunlight reached to the eyes of Zain directly passing through that tree. So he used his hand to stop the sunlight and looked up in the direction of the tree.
What he saw next, made him scared.
He saw something like a human body stuck in the trees, so he moved a little to his right so that he could see clearly.
To his shock and misery, it was a female body, and the clothes were belonging to Ebtehal.
He panicked and got so scared, so he started to run as fast as he could towards home and just as he was near the house he saw Ebtehal looking out from the window.
Zain waved to Ebtehal to come outside while running towards the door.
Ebtehal opened the door, smiling.
After Sun set, Zain grabbed the flashlight in one hand and Ebtehal’s hand in other hand and started running towards town.
They were deep in the forest and then suddenly Ebtehal freed her hand from Zain’s grip and started running in a random direction and started laughing and giggling.
Zain called her name in anger and shouted on top of his lungs.
He kept hearing her giggling and laughing.
So to look for her, he started running in the direction of where her voice was coming.
Apart from her laughing, he also kept hearing the voice of footsteps following him, but he didn’t pay attention to it and only focused on the sound of his sister and kept shouting her name to make her stop this play and come towards him.
He kept running towards the direction of her voice but as soon as he came to a spot.
All the voices (giggling, laughing and footsteps) completely stopped.
Zain tried to search the area by using his flashlight, and the first thing he saw was the same big rock.
And this time He saw a human body just near the rock laying on stomach.
He tried to push the body aside to see the face.
Zain put light on the face using his flashlight.
Zain saw the face of Ebtehal,
Her eyes filled with blood and tears of blood coming from her eyes rolling on her cheeks and she was smiling. A full, strange smile.
This horrifying image made Zain’s mind go out and made him mad instantly, and he started laughing as loud as he could.
He kept laughing….seeing that horrifying face of her little sister and holding her head in one hand and flashlight on the other.
Then suddenly he started crying and screaming.
Surrounded by darkness and her (dead) sister, Zain kept switching between laughing and crying as loud as he could till he passed out.
